Trapped gas in a newborn looks like straining and squirming and crying, with nothing coming out. The Windi is a small hollow tube that gives that gas a way past the rectal muscle.
How to use it: Massage baby's belly with downward strokes first. Lubricate the tip of the Windi with a little oil, lift baby's legs, and insert the tube gently until the stopper meets the skin. Listen for gas releasing, which usually happens within a few seconds. Then pull the tube out and throw it away.
Why 2.2 inches: The Windi extends precisely 2.2 inches, long enough to bypass the rectal muscle and no longer. The parent-proof stopper is what holds it at that depth.
How often to use it: Frida does not recommend using the Windi more than 3 times in a day. It is made for your newborn up until 12 months old for gas relief.
Single use, every time: One tube, one use, then the trash. There is nothing to wash and nothing to reuse. The tubes are premium medical-grade TPE, BPA-free and latex-free, and recyclable.
When to call your pediatrician: If baby is not feeling any better, call your pediatrician. Gas might not be what is going on. Read the instructions in the pack before the first use and follow them each time.
